I'm a freelance journalist and fact checker who has written for the New York Times, Pacific Standard, The Awl, and Longreads, among other publications. I regularly contribute to New York magazine, where I do a mix of research and reporting. My work on the child welfare system has been supported by John Jay's Center on Media, Crime, and Justice and The Solutions Journalism Network. My current reporting, on sexual misconduct, is being developed with Type Investigations (formerly called the Nation Institute’s Investigative Fund). Long ago, I worked as the associate editor at the award-winning general interest quarterly Maisonneuve. My work has twice been nominated for Canada's National Magazine Awards. I live in New York, and when not working, I like to sing, swim, and be outdoors.
